Client: FDOT District 3
Escambia to Santa Rosa County, Florida

PBB

Project Description:

In 2016, Eisman & Russo, Inc. was awarded the Construction Management & CEI services for the nearly $400M replacement of the Pensacola Bay Bridge from Escambia to Santa Rosa County, Florida. E&R is providing Construction Management & CEI services for this estimated 3.5 year, Design-Build project which involves constructing two, independent SR 30 (US 98) bridge structures across Pensacola Bay and replacing the existing 3-mile long, structurally-deficient Pensacola Bay Bridge. Additionally, US 98 will be widened from 2- to 3-lanes in each direction on both approaches for a total project length of 3.721 miles.  The current Pensacola Bay Bridge is 2-lanes in each direction with a 6’ hard should on one side and virtually no shoulder on the other. It is being replaced with two separate structures, each consisting of three 12’ lanes with a 10’ inside and outside shoulder and 10’ wide shared use path on the outside of each new bridge structure. Additionally an aesthetic lighting scheme will be incorporated to accentuate the new bridges. These two new structures will be parallel to the existing bridge which will be demolished as part of the project. The new Pensacola Bay Bridge will replace the original bridge built in 1960 and ensure that this east-west transportation corridor, which serves as a primary hurricane evacuation route for the Florida Panhandle, is in an operationally safe condition for the travelling public.
