I-95 Widening Project

Project Description:

The project consists of repairing, resurfacing and widening from 4 to 6 lanes Interstate 95 over a span of 3.7 miles from Hecksher Drive to I-295.  This will involve the installation of new concrete pavement.  The milling and resurfacing of existing asphalt shoulders or the construction of new asphalt shoulders.  New highway lighting within the project limits.  The construction of 5 storm water treatment ponds. Replacement of concrete slabs on the existing roadway, reconstruction and/or grinding of all concrete roadway surfaces.  The last part will include providing new striping on the roadway, signing, sign structures with lighting and the protection of utilities on SR-9.
 
This project is anticipated to complete Summer 2008 with an estimated cost of $26.1 million. Archer Western Contractors, Ltd will be the contractors on this project.  Eisman and Russo will provide the project consulting for engineering and inspection services. The FDOT project manager is Ken Hill.
